Argonaut Readers Recommend SMPREP as the Best Elementary and Middle School
Saint Monica Preparatory was honored again by The Argonaut readers this month as the Reader Recommended Best Elementary and Middle School in its annual "Best of the Westside" edition. View the full Best of the Westside issue here. This follows our Best Private High School recognition by HomeTown News last month. The Argonaut readers have consistently included SMPREP among the Best Private School, Best High School and/or Best Elementary and Middle School over the past four years. Thank you to everyone who voted in support of our wonderful academic and co-curricular programs, experiential learning opportunities and close-knit community.
We loved hosting over 200 families at our TK-12 Open House this past weekend. Our campus was buzzing as SMPREP student tour guides showed off our welcoming classrooms and facilities, including our beautiful new state-of-the-art STEM laboratories; and introduced our dedicated faculty and coaches to prospective families. SMPREP application deadlines for the 2026-2027 school year are approaching: December 15 is the priority deadline for grades TK-8 and January 15 is the deadline for grades 9-12. Congratulations to the cast and crew of the wonderful Saint Monica Preparatory Fall Play, "12 Angry Jurors." Playbill recently featured the cover design for our production in a PLAYBILLDER Spotlight Gallery of covers from around the country! Adapted from the classic play and film "12 Angry Men," the thought-provoking reimagining placed the actors in the midst of the audience rather than on stage, allowing spectators to feel as though they were seated inside the jury room. Now that the final verdict has been read, students are preparing to take on "Mamma Mia!" as our spring production this April.

UPDATE: Saint Monica Preparatory's 7th/8th grade Flag Football team is now the #1 team in all of CYO in Los Angeles County after winning the CYO Open Division Flag Football championships.
That's a wrap on Mariner Fall Sports. Congratulations to Mariner Football (who went 9-1) and Mariner Cross Country teams for strong playoff runs. Girls Golf finished the season on top, tying for first place in the league!
Our 5th/6th grade Girls Volleyball finished its impressive season undefeated, while the 7th/8th Grade Flag Football team secured the league championship title.
Mariner Boys Basketball hosted the 5th annual Leon Wood Tip-Off Classic. Our Mariners made it all the way to the championship game vs. Crossroads, who took the win 62-49.

Saint Monica Preparatory was recently featured in a story in The Argonaut. Our primary teachers for transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade and second grade have collaborated as a teaching team to create a community of writers. After a year of meaningful teacher collaboration, focused on research-based instructional practices, SMPREP saw a 20% increase in writing proficiency of TK-2nd grade students. Throughout the year, both teachers and families witnessed students grow in confidence, skill and joy as writers.
