Fall Sports Roundup
As we prepare for 2023 and our Winter sports teams kick off their season, we congratulate all of our Upper and Lower School athletes on a strong showing for Fall.
Our Varsity Football Team led by Coach Barnes made it all the way to the CIF Semifinals. Meanwhile, our Lower School's A Flag Football Team won the Gold Division CYO Football Championship for the first time ever! Go Mariners! Cross Country Boys Varsity and JV teams are the Santa Fe League Champions, while the Girls Varsity are Runner-Ups this year. We had multiple Cross Country athletes make it into the Top 10, and Coach Gwendolen Twist competed in the Cross Country National Championship and is now the 12th fastest female in the Nation!
Our Lower School Girls A Volleyball Team made it to the CYO Playoffs Championship Game, while our Girls Golf team had their strongest season yet, ending with golfer Nayani L. going all the way to compete in the CIF/SCGA qualifier for State. We're so proud of all of our Mariners' individual and team accomplishments!

We are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Erin Luby as the next President of Saint Monica Preparatory, effective July 1, 2025. After an extensive nationwide search, the School Board and Msgr. Next April during the National Football League Draft, our eyes will be on Saint Monica alum and Washington State wide receiver Kyle Williams ‘20. Williams honed his football skills here at Saint Monica, leading to a standout prep career. His success at WSU placed him in the program's record books, ranking second in single-season receiving touchdowns and fourth in receiving yards. As he continues to make waves, his future in the professional ranks looks bright with scouts closely following his every move.
This week, Saint Monica Preparatory celebrated the gift that is Catholic education during the annual, nationwide Catholic Schools Week (CSW) - culminating in an all school Mass. Despite the challenging start to 2025, Msgr. Torgerson encouraged everyone to be grateful to be here together as part of the Mariner community. It was a week full of gratitude and appreciation for the role the parish, community, SMPREP families, the nation, our talented students and of course, our wonderful faculty and staff play in creating the strong foundation provided by Saint Monica Prep.
