President Dn. Kevin McCardle Honored by the Archdiocese
Congratulations to our school president, Dn. Kevin McCardle, Ph.D., who was honored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles this week as a recipient of the Cardinal's Award Celebrating Extraordinary Catholics. Archbishop Jose H. Gomez introduced the honorees at the awards dinner at The Beverly Hilton. Msgr. Torgerson, alongside parish priests and staff, James Spellman and Neil Quinly, Ph.D., principals of Saint Monica Preparatory's Upper School and Lower School, respectively, SMPREP faculty, administrators and staff, friends and family all gathered together to celebrate the commitment, leadership and service of Dn. McCardle.
Dn. McCardle was recognized for his new role in June '23 as deacon at St. Monica's, as well as his past five years serving as president of our now TK-12 school, and his past 14 years steering the St. Joseph Center as its board chair. The St. Joseph Center provides working poor families, as well as homeless men, women and children, with resources and tools to become self-supporting members of the community. Msgr. Torgerson put it best, "He is a man of integrity with a great mind for education and a heart for the Lord. When you get the combination in a person, it's an incredible gift to the community."
