Spotlight on PGA Professional Charles Womack Jr.
Congratulations to Saint Monica Preparatory Golf Coach Charles Womack Jr. who is now a member of the PGA, attaining his PGA Class A certification! The PGA of America, the industry's standard bearer, has certified nearly 29,000 PGA Professionals who work daily to drive interest and participation in the game. Coach Womack just passed the Playing Ability Test (PAT), the final requirement for becoming a PGA Professional after completing the three levels of PGA of America curriculum. The PAT is a one-day, 36-hole golfing ability test in which less than 20% of those taking the test achieve a passing score. Players must achieve a 36-hole score within 15 shots of the course rating to pass the test. Well done Coach!
SMPREP's Boys and Girls Golf teams had a banner year under Coach Womack's direction. The boys finished the season 12-1 and the girls had a strong 6-2 record, with senior Nayani Lewis making it all the way to the State Championships Qualifier. She will play at the next level for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore this year.
