Upon completion of this process, students:

1. Complete the High School Placement Test (HSPT) - Receipt of the completed online application reserves the applicant’s seat for this exam. Register here for the HSPT practice test on October 21, 2023.
2.  Participate in an interview with a member of the Admissions Committee.

Saint Monica Preparatory has a generous need-based financial aid program.  All aid is provided on an annual renewable basis. The Catholic Education Foundation (CEF) was established as an independent charitable trust in 1987 by Cardinal Roger Mahony. CEF's mission is to provide tuition assistance to the most financially deserving students attending Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. CEF's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) provides $1,000 per student in grades Pre-K to 8 and $2,000 per student in grades 9 to 12 each academic year.

       
ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION DETAILS

1. Verify that you and your household meet CEF’s income guidelines for financial eligibility (refer to below chart). If you make $5,000 more than listed in the eligibility guidelines, please complete an application. If there is additional funding they might be able to accommodate those outsides of the guidelines. 
2. Complete all three pages of the APPLICATION FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM form.
3. Submit your application and all proper proof of income documents directly to Mrs. Renett Young at SMPREP no later than Friday, December 1, 2023.         

Acceptable proof of income documents include your 2022 Federal Income Tax Return (1040) or a NOTARIZED STATEMENT OF INCOME document. See CEF Guidelines for Acceptable Proof of Income Documentation on Page 3 of the application for more details and requirements. All applications and proof of income documents submitted to CEF will be archived and/or disposed of as appropriate to ensure confidentiality.

NOTE: If your income has changed drastically in 2023 vs. what was reported on your 2022 taxes, please complete the Notarized Statement and submit it with your application.

Academic Scholarships (Incoming 9th Graders)

Saint Monica Preparatory will offer academic scholarships payable over four years while attending Saint Monica Prep.*  Any 8th-grade student who scores in the 96-99th composite percentile nationally on the HSPT exam at any test location, and who successfully completes the SMPREP admissions process, is automatically granted an academic scholarship.

*Please note that the annual renewal of this award requires students to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.6 and demonstrate satisfactory citizenship.

Saint Monica Preparatory will offer 10 leadership scholarships of $10,000 each, payable in $2,500 increments over four years while attending Saint Monica Prep.* A letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach or supervisor who can attest to the contributions and demonstrated leadership of the candidate is required.

*Please note that annual renewal of this award requires students to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, demonstrate satisfactory citizenship, and lead or actively participate in a major school activity.

Saint Monica Preparatory strongly encourages international students to enter the 9th or 10th grade. Exceptions are made on occasion for well-qualified students interested in entering the 11th grade. 

Please inquire for more information. Strong English skills are required for international applicants.

• Grades (translated to English): completed School Report form and Common Evaluation form must be submitted to Saint Monica Preparatory by the current school the applicant is attending. 
• International students must also submit a TOEFL or TOEFL Jr. score, take the HSPT exam, conduct a Skype interview with a school representative, and submit copies of a passport and bank-verified financial statement.
• Once the above steps have been completed an in-person or Skype interview will be scheduled.
• The completed file will be reviewed by the Admission Committee for final decision.
• International students must have proof of suitable living arrangements with a relative or custodial guardian while attending Saint Monica Preparatory. No housing or homestay arrangements will be made or suggested by Saint Monica Preparatory. 
• Students/agencies are not permitted to solicit Saint Monica Preparatory families or parishioners of the Saint Monica Preparatory community.

Please note that all international students will be held to the same academic standards as domestic students and no accommodations will be made due to language proficiency.
